If you can ever see the frame of a typical 5er and compare it to a typical GN trailer, there is a world of difference in the amount of steel and bracing in a GN trailer. At the RV show, a dealer told me Fleetwood would specifically NOT handle a gooseneck hitch, but that most would. My adapter is a Leland and is a 16,000 capacity. The adapter (a Colbert 305, I believe) has a 30,000 pound rating or he could install a "removable" fifth wheel hitch. Because the Open Road company will not "VOID" the warranty, our dealer told us that he could put a gooseneck adapter on the fifth wheel. We have a gooseneck hitch in our truck as we haul hay on our farm! We are looking to purchase a new "Open Road" Fifth Wheel.

Step two - accept the fact that your trailer can't handle it and the front structure may crack and fail in the future. There's only one manufacturer, to my knowledge, that will let you convert their trailer to a gooseneck, and that's Open Road. Step one - Contact the manufacturer of your trailer and see if can take the stress of a gooseneck adapter.
